Potty Training

Well, Mission Pee Pee on the Potty accomplished! I decided friday morning to bite the bullet and just do it. I've had the Princess and Hello Kitty underwear ready to go for a while now, but Grace has had a rough 6 weeks with colds, fevers and two double ear infections. Friday she woke up pleasant and stayed dry for several hours, so off came the diaper and on went Hello Kitty. She really only had one bad #1 accident with it running down her legs and one #2 in the underwear. It took until monday for her to actually say the words "I have to go pee pee". That was the most frustrating part. I felt like I was the one being trained, constantly asking and putting her on the potty and Grace never initiating. But she got it!!! And this girl has some serious bladder control! She can hold it for hours!!! I told Grace she would get to go to the zoo when she started telling me she had to go. It was so funny, on Monday she yelled that she had to go and ran for the potty. As she was going, I was telling her how proud of her I was. She then yelled, "I'm going to the zoo!" Smart cookie!

We went to Target today and Grace picked some Princess make up for a potty training prize. She was so happy! The lip gloss got applied to more than just the lips :)

Aidan had a piece of artwork chosen by his art teacher to be on display at our local library. Aidan really enjoys art and this was very exciting for him to be recognized. Great job, Aidan!!!!

I caught these two watching TV together like this. Total sweetness!

Grace's 100 Good Wishes Quilt

Back in March of 2007, when we started the adoption process with China, we decided we wanted to make a 100 Good Wishes Quilt for our new daughter. We eventually switched to Russia, but we still loved the idea of having a quilt made from fabric that would come from family and friends along with a "good wish".

Beautiful fabrics and heartfelt wishes slowly trickled in over the next 4+ years. We now have the most gorgeous quilt for Grace! Each piece is so special and makes us smile! There are so many pieces that remind us of the people who gave them! We even have a piece of satin that came from my mother's baptism gown that was originally fabric from my grandfather's air force parachute!!! There is also a piece that was hand stitched by Grace's Great Grandmother Wunderly!! Grace will always treasure this and can pass it down for generations to come!
