Court is 3 weeks from today!!! I can't wait!!!!! This 3 year journey is coming to the most glorious end! We have both trips all planned. We are staying at the Courtyard again for the court trip and the Marriott Grand for the final trip. Now I need to start thinking about what we need for the final trip. Do I need bottles? pacifiers? scabies cream??? I guess we will have to ask all this while on our court trip. Any advice would be great :)
I feel like I'm way too relaxed. I must be forgetting about 20 things!

You need all of that :)!
Jill was 13-mos old & refused to drink from anything other than one of those disposable plastic cups w/ a sippy lid from Target called Take & Toss. I'd bring a few different kinds of cups & some dishwashing soap. We only fed her Enfamil Next Step formula & Gerber oatmeal. And, Cheerios. All three travel well & sit easy on the tummy. Then, you can introduce her to "the good stuff" when you're home! Bring some little Take & Toss bowls w/ lids and disposable spoons too!
I'd also recommend bringing a couple of plastic diaper cover undies. Jill was fine but on our first adoption, our son had MAJOR diahrerra.
You'll be glad to be at the Grand for your pick up trip. Stayed there twice for two pick up trips. Bigger rooms & nice cribs.
Oh... and you can never have enough zip locks. For dirty diapers, clothes, packing foods, etc.
Gosh... I'm so excited for you guys! What great memories! Enjoy!
Don't buy scabies cream or any other meds. Somebody should send you the lighthouse bag with all kinds of meds for you and baby. Anything that you could ever think of is in it. After you use it, you replace what you've used and send along to the next family. Pam
the next few weeks are going to fly by!!! may 8th can't get here soon enough.
When we adopted our children (all were about about 13 months) they still used a bottle at the baby home. My daughter is 20 months old, has been home for 8 months, and still uses the bottle in the morning and before bed, attachment stuff. :)
I second the zip lock advice, definitely!
I am very excited for you!!!
Our little girl was 13.5 months when we brought her home. She took to a baby bottle immediately! It's sooo great for bonding. Get the toddler nipples with a faster flow. You have to buy them separately because the new bottle sets only have newborn nipples. We learned this the hard way when we had to use a fork to make the slit in the nipple bigger and then about drowned our little girl.
You can't have too many plain cheerios and gerber puffs either. Lexi went through twice as many as we thought possible. The best baby item we brought was a snack cup from BabiesRus that had a plastic lid with slits in it so she could reach her hand in get the cheerios, but it wouldn't let them fall all over the floor. It still works great over a year later!
Also, we packed way too many pretty dresses and not nearly enough comfy pjs or play clothes. Especially since it was winter and she wore a snow suit everywhere anyway.
You'll love the Marriott Grand (but not the Buffet prices). We would stuff ourselves at the buffet breakfast BTW - best food we ever tasted - and that would last us pretty much all day, plus we'd take a few yogurts and bananas with us to store in our room's mini-fridge for Lexi. They have a pink umbrella stroller you can borrow if you don't bring your own.
Also, if you give her apple juice, be sure to dilute it with bottled water. I forgot and paid for it wtih major blow-outs. A rookie mistake for this mom of five LOL!
Oh Jeanette, you do realize you are being thrown right into the toddler world. How exciting (and frightening).. Im sure Nate and Aidan will help you out big time. They are so good with Meghan, I can only imagine how sweet and loving they will be with their own lil sister.
Oh my gosh...these emails are making my head spin!!! How exciting. I don't have any baby advice for you...how soon we forget?!?!? I'm just so excited for you guys and can't wait for you to have her home.
Talk to you soon.
Yeah!! take everything...you just don't know what you will need...it will depend on your little sweetie and girls DO require more luggage you know?! ha. tell THAT one to your husband as you pay the excess fee for over the weight limit ;)
Take some pediasure. Our little one didn't like the formula??? It was a crazy few days of trying to find things she would drink.
Sounds like you will be at a good hotel and location so that is great. This will help if you have to venture out for baby items and I am sure the food at the hotel will be good too.
Oh I am so happy for you!!! It is going to go by fast so hold on tight.
We'll just miss you by a week, we're flying home April 15th and we're also staying at the Marriott Grand. I'm so excited for you, it's almost here!! ~K
How exciting! That date will be here before you know it!
