I just heard last night about a horrible story. Many of you in the adoption "business" know all about this already. A 7 year old boy was adopted from Russia about 6 months ago by a family in Tennessee. Due to "mental issues" and "violence" the mother put the boy on a plane BY HIMSELF to Russia with a note saying that she no longer wishes to parent this child. Obviously, Russia is furious! This woman has no idea how she could be ruining so many future adoptions. Officials in Russia are now calling for a suspension of US adoptions! I'm trying to stay calm and not freak out, but it's getting difficult since this story is all over the news. I also read that one of the officials calling for this suspension is very close to Putin and doesn't usually make statements that are not in line with his.
We are suppose to leave in one week for court. The thought of this all coming to a halt, scares the heck out of me. Please pray that Russia doesn't act too extremely and that we are on that plane next week!

Praying for your family and your daughter.
praying!!!
We received a referral for a baby girl just yesterday. We are so afraid that we won't get to meet her and her be part of our family. You are so close hopefully everything will work out!!
Oh my. I had not heard this story. Praying even more for you and keep us all posted! Saw your post on FB today and wondered what was up.
So frustrating. The Chase Harrison case happened when I was in process with Tatiana and I remember the same exact panic feeling.
I am not a violent person, nor do I advocate violence, but I really want to shake some sense into this woman. I have heard that the "Grandmother" of the boy said they received the advice to send him back to Russia from a lawyer they spoke with online. SERIOUSLY? You are going to listen to a supposed lawyer from online vs talking this over with your agency that guided you through the entire process? Or your homestudy agency that was just there in January???
I know I am preaching to the choir and I desperately hope that this does not effect your process or any other families for that matter. There are so many kids that need homes...
We are praying for you & all the other families in-process. Don't know if it makes you feel any better, but something very similiar happened during our first adoption journey in Russia and it all worked out just fine. It's hard to keep positive & smiling, but please know you are in our prayers and keep the faith!
Please know that you and all the other families in the process of giving these children a loving home are in our prayers.
Blessings to you,
Laura
Hang in there, Jeanette. Hopefully you are far enough in the process that it won't affect you. Big hug!!
Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts- I can't imagine how scary it must be right now, but I hope that this situation won't impact your adoption.
