We took the shuttle to Red Square to get our St. Basil's picture and the last of our souviners bought. Everything is all gated off for the big parade tomorrow and there were no souviner stands. So we cut through Gum (big mall) and got an ok picture (the camera was on the wrong setting). Grace was getting tired of the stroller and the baby carrier and simply just getting tired. We had 40 minutes until the next shuttle, so we headed to McDonalds. On our way there we realized something smelled. This is where the story gets interesting. We go into McDonalds and I head downstairs to the bathroom to change Grace. There are no changing tables anywhere!! I walk around a bit trying to make up my mind what to do. I decide I HAVE to change her. So, I lay her down on the toilet lid. I know. How could I? I was desperate! It was very narrow so I couldn't take my hand off of her. She was mad and not liking being on a public restroom toilet lid. I worked as fast as I could with one hand. Now try closing up a dirty diaper with one hand. That wasn't happening, so I just threw it in the trash can in the stall. As I'm trying to get the new diaper open, Grace starts peeing all over the place!!! There was a puddle on the floor and a disgusting diaper in the trash can! I tried wiping up some of the pee with toilet paper, but that really wasn't going to make much difference. When I went into the stall, we were the only ones in the bathroom. When we came out, all these young girls were there. The smell was horrible! I hightailed it upstairs so flustered and hungry. I put Grace in the high chair while Brad went for the food. Then the little stinker pooped AGAIN! I wanted to cry. At this point we needed to run for our shuttle so she was just gonna have to wait until we were back at the hotel. I decided to peek in her diaper thinking it couldn't be all that bad since she already went a diaper full. WRONG! Let's just say I needed the wipes just from my little peek. Anyway, we are back at the hotel for naptime. Brad worked his magic and got her to sleep in the crib while I hid in the bathroom :) She really is adjusting well and seems happy to be with us. She is so giggly and loving!
I'm posting a whole bunch of pictures. Some are from yesterday when we walked to a beautiful park near the hotel. There was a pond, playgrounds and tons of couples cuddling on the benches!
First bath. We had to wash her standing up because she refused to sit. She didn't cry, just made unhappy faces.
Favorite stunt. Diving off the bed. You can't turn your back on her for one second! The pool ought to be fun this summer :)
Check out the swing on the left.
This was really neat. A giant paved area for kids to bike ride, scooter, and even drive their Fisher Price jeeps! I never thought about where kids who live in a city get to do these things.
They had this giant ball with a rope attached to it. Someone would get in and they would push the ball out. Then the person inside would try to "hamster wheel it" back. It was so funny!
Our hotel, Renaissance Moscow.
Loved the new toothbrush!
Her pj's say "sweet like mommy"!
When are we leaving for America?
Isn't she just the sweetest?!? Thanks for the hat and sweater, Meghan!
Brad and Grace inside Gum.
There was military everywhere. Even on the streets you find lots of policemen and military preparing for tomorrow.
I just finished this post and smelled something coming from the crib! She clearly doesn't like something we are feeding her. Has anyone else had this problem with pedisure? I really hope it's not that.

Oh wow, your post cracked me up - I can so feel your pain! Our problem is a bit the opposite - she won't go poopy in her diaper!!! So we finally put her on a potty seat and all was well. Not sure how to change that habit!! And, our first bath experience was pure torture for Marina - consider yourself lucky. Can you believe how hot it is in Moscow???
Looks like you guys are having a blast, even with the poopapalooza.
Hi mom dad and baby sister,
We are so excited for you to come home with Grace ( even in her smelly diaper). I think Meghan is just as excited as me. We had a lot of fun on our sleep over even though Aidan whispered to Tyler. I was on the opposite side of the room and heard it. Mr. Hooper is home with the donuts so I am going to say "bye"
Love, Nate
Love a funny bathroom story!!! That may just be the best!!! I am so glad she is adjusting well. The boys are fine!! Did great sleeping over and I must say, they are VERY happy.. I know they miss you but they have not been acting sad or teary eyed.. Can't wait until tomorrow..

Hi mom, dad and baby sister, Grace,
The pictures looked really funny. I want to try the hamster ball on water. It was weird to wake up in the middle of the night and not be in my room-- but I was okay and went right back to sleep. I had a fun time. Can't wait to see you tomorrow. I do not want to change her smelly diapers.
Love,
Aidan
You have totally cracked me up!
I know it is not funny at the time but you will really laugh one day!
The best words of wisdom that I received before we traveled was to not add to many different things to their diet. The diet in the orphanage is so bland and is always the same. So we waited to add vitamins and anything to rich or heavy before we got home! I could not imagine getting on that flight home with pooping issues! I would cut the pedisure just until you get her home. She looks so good and soooo healthy!
Enjoy your beautiful girl!
Nicole
I love all the pictures!! Love that she's a good pooper...we'll have tons of stories to share!
hmmm lucky you..you got warm St. Basil pics;)
Great pics!! You are much better at capturing Russia than me! Logan was really crabby at Red Square so got no good pics. I didn't even take one of the hotel or room so hope I can use yours!!
Love the McDonalds story. I had a similar experience in the GUM outdoor restaurant where there were absolutely no kids and everyone stared at me when I had to take him to the bathroom to change. When I came out there was a line of 4 people (going into a smelly bathroom)!!!
Oh she is just beautiful...poop and all.
YOu got a lot of great pictures!
You will be home soooooooon.
Caroline had HORRIBLE smelling poops. I was convinced she had parasites in her poop and had her tested numerous times. Turned out she just had foul poops. Go figure. But I think you should have her tested when you get home for all of the parasites PI kids have. Those are supposed to be VERY foul smelling.
Caroline was like a kid in the candy store in our hotel rooms in Russia. She could not keep her self from exploring EVERYTHING. She had no idea what nyet or no meant either. Lol
Great pics too! :-)
Awesome story Mrs. Wunderly!
