Flight Cancelled!

We were on our way to JFK airport, when we found out our flight to Moscow was cancelled . We are beyond frustrated and upset. We did continue on our way to see what we could get. Which was nothing. No flights going in and out of Europe. We have no idea when we will be able to get there for court and now we need a new court date. So the waiting continues. Hopefully we will hear something on monday about a new court date. We do have a flight reserved right now for tuesday, but according to the news it doesn't seem too hopeful that we will make it out this week at all. I called Marriott and started adding weeks just in case. Of course, I can't get the adoption rate and it is over $400 a night. This just keeps getting better, doesn't it.

I really hope this business with the delegation doesn't turn bad before we have a chance to get there. Although, I don't think they will make it there either. Maybe that will buy us all some time. Thanks for all the support and prayers. We still need them!!!!

Oh NO I feel your pain I to had trouble with my flights getting out of JFK for court and gatcha day. Mine was related to RAN not a volcano!! I finally did make it and my son has been home for 4 weeks now so I know you will make it but I also know how stressful it is getting there. SO my thoughts and prayers are with you and your little one waiting for you in Russia!!

this is really unreal. will russia not make a decision until the US gets there? if so, that might buy you time cause they won't be able to get there either, like you said.

Hell of a week, wasn't it. I am almost afraid of what next week holds for us. At least I wasn't in this alone - thanks for your friendship and support. We WILL get thru this!!

Wow,this is insane. Now we just have to sit and wait. This is just the worst timing for everything. I actually went to the bookstore today and got some prayer books. I just don't know what to think of all this so the only thing we can do is just to stay positive and pray. Your in my thoughts.;-))))

I have been following along for a little while. I'm so happy you finally got your court date. I'm sure you have already inquired about this, but just in case I wanted to mention that Aeroflot Flt 316 JFK to Moscow did operate yesterday, and at least for now is still scheduled for Tonight (4 hours late) and tomorrow. Might be an option to check out. Good luck. Everything will work out fine in the end.

That's awful! We're between trips, still waiting for a court date....I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be SO CLOSE and have something like the volcano ruin it!

Have you considered a different route over? I'd read that this volcano might disrupt air travel for months, so have been thinking about alternatives from a US-Moscow (or US-Europe-Moscow) direct path. We're considering Houston-Dubai-Moscow. Maybe it's worth looking into flying out of your way, and getting into Moscow from the East?

Best of luck!!!!

This is probably the last thing you'd consider doing... HOWEVER, I also remember that feeling of "I'll do WHATEVER it takes" to get there. Another possible route is...
JFK to Seoul. Seoul to Moscow (or you may have to make another spot).
Flying THAT way around the world will be long, but you may be able to avoid "Europe" proper. I did hear that the cloud is moving toward Russia, but I don't know where it's moving....

I am so sorry this has happened! With everything going on (not to mention it is the year 2010).....it seems so odd that you cannot get to Russia because of a volcano in a different far away place.
I hope you get a new court date ASAP and do not have to wait anymore!
I'll be praying!
God bless!

I know for all of this close to the end of our adoption journeys this is just insane with the Russian adoption drama and now to add to the story: "then there was a VOLCANO explosion...." it's STRESSFUL but will certainly add color to our children's adoption stories when this is all said and done!

Praying you get good news and are able to fly here. I'm supposed to be flying Moscow to JFK on Thursday. I hope you get to fly over on the plane that will then take me & Libbie HOME! :-]
