We were blessed with 2 healthy, beautiful sons. But someone was missing! We traveled to Moscow, Russia to bring home our baby girl and complete our family!

Readoption?
Need some advice. We want to get some information on readoption and don't know where to begin. Has anyone ever done it in Pennsylvania? When I googled it, I got information for lawyers. I don't know what agency to start with? Thanks!
It depends on your state, contact your local county courthouse? Florida doesn't require it, yet people have done it anyway, for their own reasons...guess unless its necessary by your state, it is up to you.
Your agency dones't have info for you? Thats where I thought I'd start, but we live in Calif and our agency is here as well. Basically I was planning on worrying about that later....need to complete the adoption first!!
I readopted in CA. Seemed like a huge amount of work but actually was pretty easy--a few quick forms and 10 min in court ... and inexpensive. I found the information online at our county website (juvenile matters) and called them to confirm.
The real reason to do it is it makes it much easier when you need to produce a birth certificate (for school, etc.)
Check with your local family court. SC allows us to do it all ourselves without an attorney, it's just getting a lot of paperwork together (and we all have tons of experience with that). We are just doing it ourselves. A local attorney quoted us $700 for the same thing. In SC, you have to wait until the first post placement report unless you wanna have a social worker write up a report now (which you don't need for 6 months, so extra money). I'd just wait until after the first post placement which is what we did. The person that helped us the most was our social worker. She was aware of all the local laws.
Jeanette Hi! I have followed you blog for a while now but never commented. First I would like to say what cutie pies all your kiddos are! We also live in Pa. and adopted our DD in Dec.07, we were told by our agency we didnt have to readopt in Pa. If you find out other wise please post it on your blog.

Check with your local agency that did your home study. My social worker just gave me the info today and a list of attorneys.
